Beautiful Strathconon lies 32 miles west of Inverness; the last 11 miles of which, to get to the cottage, is up a single track road along this idyllic, scenic glen where Red Deer and Golden Eagles can be seen, this is what a holiday in the Highlands of Scotland is all about. Perfectly located for a peaceful holiday and a great family holiday location there are walks, fishing and bird watching all available from the doorstep, heather clad hills and birch woodlands surround the property and all make this Highland Glen feel like a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage is spacious and comfortable, with a conservatory at the rear with views to the hills and down to the river. The lounge has a coal fire to return to and the garden offers children a swing and a seesaw to play on. For fishermen the local rivers are available to fish when a permit is purchased and a deep freeze is supplied in the outbuildings should you be lucky enough to catch a trout or two. Although this glen feels a million miles from everything the cottage actually has easy access to the many of the main routes through the Highlands and the city of Inverness with its great choice of restaurants and shopping is only an hour away. The Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer, just 17 miles away, with its original restored Pavilion offers various functions and events throughout the year and houses the acclaimed Red Poppy Restaurant and don’t miss the chocolate shop, Maya, found opposite offering the best hot chocolate ever! Dingwall, another 4 miles further on offers a choice of supermarkets and restaurants. But Strathconon is the kind of place you will not want to stray far from, Glen Ord distillery is found not far from the entrance to Strathconon, well worth a visit to do their tour to learn about the process of whisky making, but pick up a bottle of their finest malt whisky, and when you get back to the cottage pour yourself a dram and just stay put – what more could you wish for?
