This is a charming holiday cottage, beautifully situated within the grounds of Lassintullich Lodge, a traditional Scottish Country House, in the lee of Schiehallion (The Fairy Mountain) – an area renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. This cottage offers an excellent touring base for discovering this magical area. (Property references 10992 and 11113 are also situated within the Lodge grounds).
The Kennel Cottage can accommodate two guests. With great care and attention to detail, the owners have equipped the cottage to a very high standard and the carefully chosen furnishings and fabrics are in harmony with both the interior and exterior of all their properties.
The ground floor has a kitchen/dining area and the luxury bathroom with shower over the bath. On the first floor are the sitting room, with wood burning stove, and the charming, light, airy bedroom with king-size bed furnished to reflect the beautiful exterior views. There is an additional w.c. with wash hand basin.
Outside the cottage you have a seating area where you can take in your stunning surroundings - just sit quietly, be patient and you will no doubt see the red squirrels which live in the grounds, the resident hares and the many species of wild birds which are regular visitors. If you are very, very lucky you may even spot a pine marten. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Kinloch Rannoch is a small village in Perthshire steeped in history. The whole area is tranquil and picturesque with spectacular views of Schiehallion to the South. Rannoch Moor, (20 miles away) is reached by one single road, ending at the quaint Rannoch Railway Station. It is a magical sight at 1,000 feet and offers glorious views of heather, lochs and mountains
There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy from walking, cycling, pony trekking, water sports, golf, shooting, fishing and painting to name but a few. Loch Rannoch itself has a good selection of hotels, bars, places to eat, a hairdresser and Post Office Stores. You can also hire mountain bikes and fishing tackle here.
A little further away is the small town of Aberfeldy, where you can enjoy a round of golf, delve into the history of Aberfeldy at Castle Menzies, pay a visit to Dewar’s malt whisky distillery (and have a wee dram). Nearby is the unique Scottish Crannog Centre on Loch Tay beside the beautiful old village of Kenmore from where you can take part in some of the activities detailed above.
