The perfect place to get away from it all and soak up the peace of the Highlands, this attractive barn conversion near the small village of Garve offers cosy and comfortable accommodation for couples in a spectacular countryside setting. Drover's Rest dates back to 1760 and has been elegantly restored to provide a high standard of accommodation, with exposed beams and stonework, a romantic balcony overlooking the River Blackwater and a homely multifuel stove to warm your feet by after a day in the great outdoors. Right on the doorstep of the property there are some lovely riverside strolls, leafy woodland walks and also more challenging hikes only a short way away, such as the ascent of Ben Wyvis, for the more adventurous and energetic to try.There are opportunities for dining out at the hotel in the village of Garve, and trout-fishing on the River Blackwater, pony trekking and golf can also be arranged from there. The village of Strathpeffer about 6 miles away and the town of Dingwall 13 miles away offer further amenities. Rail enthusiasts and others train travellers will appreciate the ease with which the Kyle line, one of the world's most scenic rail journeys between Inverness on the east coast of Scotland through to Kyle of Lochalsh on the west, can be accessed from Garve station.
