Dating back to the c18 this delightful, characterful holiday cottage is conveniently situated on the main street in the friendly village of Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon. The cottage still has most of its original style and features, including low beamed ceilings and stone stairs, but after careful renovation in recent years, also enjoys more up to date comforts such as central heating and fitted kitchen. There is a cosy multi-fuel stove in the living room, ideal for snuggling up next to after a chilly winter's day walk, and in Summer the secluded walled garden to the rear of the property is a real sun trap. There are two pubs within walking distance of the cottage, as well as a village store selling newspapers and milk, and an excellent butcher's shop highly recommended by the locals.
Kirkby Malzeard is in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The beautiful Dales countryside is ideal for walking, cycling and riding, and keen birdwatchers will not be disappointed with the wildlife to be seen in the area. The nearby city of Ripon is well worth a visit, with its historic cathedral, museums, market square and racecourse. Also near the cottage and not to be missed is Fountains Abbey, a World Heritage Site. Meanwhile children will be delighted at the thrills on offer at Lightwater Valley Theme Park, just four miles away. The spa town of Harrogate is half an hour's drive, and is the location of the RHS Harlow Carr Botanical Garden as well as the famous Betty's Tearooms.
