Easington (East Riding of Yorkshire), North Yorkshire Coast, North Yorkshire.  Property 11906

Weekly bookings usually start on a Saturday but flexible start dates and short breaks available off peak.

The cottage is in a fabulous location for exploring the coastal resorts of Whitby and Saltburn and the wonderful North York Moors National Park is on your doorstep. The spacious cottage provides an excellent family base plus lots of games and toys to keep the children amused in case of bad weather! The cottage is well equipped and furnished and still retains some of the lovely old features such as the old Yorkshire range in the kitchen. Relax after a long walk across the moors in the Jacuzzi style bath!
The cottage is perfectly positioned to visit the narrow streets and alleys of Whitby only 12 miles away. Folklore and tradition are very much part of Whitby – climb the 199 steps that lead up to the parish church of St Mary, whose churchyard inspired Bram Stoker to write his world-famous novel, Dracula. The world famous explorer, Captain Cook born in Marton, near Middlesbrough set sail from Whitby. You can find out more by visiting the Birthplace Museum in Middlesbrough.
There are lots of events, festivals and country shows taking place throughout the year in the the moors and coastal area including the Whitby Folk Festival and Regatta, while the Captain Cook Festival celebrates the town’s proud seafaring tradition.
Close by the cottage you have also got the coastal resorts of Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay. Further north up the coast you can enjoy the maritime heritage of the area by visiting the award winning Hartlepool Maritime Experience. And it’s not just the area’s natural beauty that holds a few surprises; visit a range of attractions from the award-winning Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (mima) to Britain’s best high street in Yarm (as voted by the BBC in 2007) to Britain’s best pier (2009) in Saltburn.
The cottage is perfectly positioned for exploring the interesting little villages in the North York Moors National Park, either by car or on board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, one of Britain's favourite preserved railways and visit Goathland the home to scenes from TV's 'Heartbeat' en route to the bustling market town of Pickering. The Moors stretches out in front of your door with a huge number and variety of walks and cycle routes just a short distance from the cottage. There’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
