Overlooking the church in the pretty village of West Lutton in The Great Wolds Valley, this lovely holiday cottage was once the village blacksmith's workshop. Dating back to 1855, this comfortable and well furnished property has been recently renovated to a very high standard retaining much of its historical character. A single storey building with good accessibility, the cottage has natural stone floors throughout, beamed ceilings and a cosy wood burning stove set in a stunning brick fireplace modelled on one of the three original curved chimneys.
West Lutton is a picturesque village situated between the bustling market towns of Malton and Driffield. There is a pub in the village, and pub/restaurants in the neighbouring villages of Weaverthorpe and Sledmere.
The cottage is ideally situated as a base for visiting the Yorkshire Wolds, The Yorkshire Coast, the North Yorkshire Moors and the City of York all of which are within 30 miles.
The gentle hills of the Yorkshire Wolds make it an ideal area for both walking and cycling. The area is unspoilt and rich in history and there are many historic houses and churches to visit. The chalk grassland of The Yorkshire Wolds is a rare habitat in Britain and is a haven for wildlife.
The Yorkshire Coast towns of Bridlington, Filey, & Scarborough are all less than 20 miles away, each offering a different experience for those of you who enjoy a day out at the Seaside.
The North York Moors railway based in the market town of Pickering just 15 miles away is the gateway to The North Yorkshire Moors. It offers 18 miles of steam railway running through spectacular moorland scenery.
The Historic City of York is just 25 miles from the cottage. Highlights include the majestic York Minster, The Jorvik Centre, York Castle Museum and The National Railway Museum.
