This traditional stone built detached farmhouse to let is surrounded by beautiful open countryside. The accommodation is extremely spacious with a large kitchen/breakfast room, separate dining room with open fire and large lounge with open fire suitable for 8 people. On the first floor there are 4 spacious bedrooms with lovely views of the countryside. The farmhouse has been refurbished to a high standard and is ideal for families. It is situated on a working farm and there is the opportunity to help on the farm with the milking or collecting the free range organic eggs. David and Kathryn are extremely welcoming and hospitable and pleased to show visitors around the farm. There are large gardens to the front and rear of the farmhouse.
The whole North Yorkshire Moors National Park stretches out only minutes away from your front door! There are a huge number and variety of walks just a short distance from the Farmhouse. Staying here you will have access to the rolling countryside. So it’s no wonder the area is a favourite amongst cyclers and walkers. The farmhouse is ideally located to explore the surrounding market towns of Northallerton, Richmond, Bedale and Thirsk – the famous vet James Herriot practiced and you can visit the Herriot visitor centre. Enjoy market days and lots of small independent shops, pubs and restaurants at each of the towns. A full calendar of country shows takes place throughout the area. Further north there is Teesside where there are also major national and international events for you to enjoy such as Stockton International Riverside Festival, Middlesbrough Music Live and Hartlepool Maritime Festival. Tees Valley is also birthplace of the railways with the original route of the Stockton and Darlington Railway (the world's 1st steam-worked public railway) to be found at the Head of Steam Museum in Darlington. Captain James Cook was born in Marton just outside Middlesbrough and set sail from Whitby. Find out more by visiting the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum in Middlesbrough. Enjoy the maritime heritage of the area by visiting the award winning Hartlepool Maritime Experience.
And it’s not just the area’s natural beauty that holds a few surprises; visit a range of attractions from the award-winning Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (mima) to Britain’s best high street in Yarm (as voted by the BBC in 2007) to Britain’s best pier (2009) in Saltburn. Further afield, Durham is a city rich in heritage with a striking Norman cathedral and castle, one of Britain’s first World Heritage sites. Investigate the Bowes Museum or for a more everyday experience of the North East’s past, visit Beamish Open Air Museum and Killhope, the North of England Lead Mining Museum, situated in the North Pennines a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
