Situated just outside the pretty village of Newby and in a tranquil countryside setting at the heart of the Eden Valley, this cottage offers simple but comfortable holiday accommodation in a single storey converted farm building. The cottage has good level access and convenient parking for those with walking difficulties, and is suitable for singles as well as couples having one twin and one adult bunk room, each with its own bathroom facilities.
Tucked between the Lake District and the Pennines the Eden Valley makes a great base from which to explore the easily accessible mountains and moors of these areas, as well as having plenty of visitor attractions in its own right. The River Eden is a good place for trout-fishing, whilst the gentle rolling landscape around here is ideal for walking and cycling, and for fans of more extreme outdoor pursuits there is a climbing wall in nearby Penrith. The Rheged Visitor Centre, just outside Penrith, is well worth a visit for shopping and its impressive 3D cinema and railway buffs will enjoy taking a trip on the famous, scenic Settle-Carlisle railway line which can be accessed from Appleby.
The Byre's friendly owners, who live just across the farmyard and also run the small caravan site nearby, are happy to provide information on local facilities and give advice on places to visit
