Situated 5 miles from the Cumbrian market town of Cockermouth and just a few minutes drive from Lake Bassenthwaite, this cheerful cottage offers simple but comfortable holiday accommodation ideal for a family holiday. Keen walkers and cyclists have the benefit of a drying room where boots and waterproofs can be stored, and guests are free to dine out or just relax in the spacious shared garden when the weather's fine. There is a pub serving food in easy walking distance of the cottage, and several more within a short drive, including the characterful Pheasant Inn at nearby Wythop Mill. Cockermouth has a good range of shops and supermarkets, whilst a trip into Keswick is a must if you need to buy walking equipment on account of its huge range of quality outlets.

- Fantastic walks in the area - from the cottage you can walk directly up on to Sale Fell and Ling Fell, and across to Lords Seat, overlooking the Whinlatter Pass. Short car or bus journeys give access to the northern and western fells, and the valleys of Thirlmere, Borrowdale, Newlands, Buttermere, Ennerdale, Wasdale and Eskdale.
- The C2C cycle route passes nearby and there are a range of cycle routes which can be taken from the cottage, both on and off road. Cycles can be hired locally, and storage is available at the cottage.
- The Lake District Osprey Project is based at the nearby Whinlatter Pass, and the telescope viewing point is across Bassenthwaite Lake at Dodd Wood.
- Cumbrian Coast is just fifteen miles away, with scenery varying from the sandstone cliffs at St.Bees to the mudflats of the Solway estuary, famous for its nature reserve.
