A warm Cumbrian welcome and maybe freshly laid free range eggs await you at this lovely cottage, which is situated on a working farm just a few miles east of the historic city of Carlisle and near the Scottish border. Converted from an old stable block dating back to the c18th this well-appointed and comfortable cottage offers a very high standard of holiday accommodation, with ensuite facilities throughout, a spacious lounge area complete with cosy woodburning stove and large flat screen TV, and an Aga style range cooker in its well-equipped kitchen.
There are lovely views from the cottage across open fields and rolling countryside and holidaymakers can enjoy relaxing in the peace and quiet of this idyllic rural setting. You may also enjoy getting to know some of the farmyard residents, such as Highland cattle, Belted Galloways, several horses and lots of sheep and hens.
Several major walking routes including the Hadrian's Wall Path Trail and the Pennine Way pass through the area, as well as cycle routes such as the Coast to Coast (C2C) and the Hadrian's Wall Cycle Way (South Shields to Ravenglass).
Brown Dyke Stables makes an excellent base from which to explore the North Pennines and Border country, with Hadrian's Wall a few minutes down the road, Gretna Green just 8 miles, and The Lake District National Park only 30 minutes drive.The Eden Valley is also just a short drive away with superb fishing and quiet, easy walks by the river.
