Ambleside is a favourite with walkers and tourists alike, offering a wealth of activities within the village itself and being an excellent starting point for easy access to all corners of the region.

The little town of Ambleside has a good choice of restaurants, cafes and pubs foryou to dine out, and an interesting selection of specialist shops to browse around. A cruise on Lake Windermere is a must during your stay, and these start on the outskirts of the village at Waterhead. Other nearby visitor attractions include Dove Cottage Museum in Grasmere, once home to the famous poet William Wordsworth, and the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness. Outdoor enthusiasts will be thrilled by the wealth of opportunities in this part of the Lake District for not only hiking the famous fells, but also rock climbing and mountain biking, as well as sailing, windsurfing and waterskiing.
