This traditionally styled cottage with original features such as beamed ceilings, stripped floors, stone walls and the remains of an old stairway turret, dates back to 1680, a time when farm animals would have been housed on the groundfloor and their owners above. Set in a secluded valley just over a mile from the characterful market town of Alston and accessed via a private track, this is a wonderfully peaceful place to unwind and get closer to nature. Many species of birds can be seen in the wooded area surrounding the cottage, Roe deer may wander by and occasionally Red Squirrels may be seen feeding, whilst the cottage is an ideal base for walking in the South Tyne Valley and spectacular North Pennines. There are plenty of footpaths and bridleways in the surrounding area and the Pennine Way passes close by. Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District, Weardale, Teesdale and the beautiful Eden Valley are all within easy reach. The nearby town of Alston provides a range of shops, craft galleries, coffee shops and pubs.
